Cute OTT Subtitles

Cute OTT Subtitles (“the app”) is a Safari extension that changes how subtitles look on supported video sites. This policy explains what data the app handles.

Summary

Where the extension runs

The extension runs only on disneyplus.com, netflix.com and the app’s own demo page (shakezet-byte.github.io/cute-ott-subtitles). It reads the subtitle text shown on the page so it can style it. This happens on your Mac; the subtitle text is not saved.

Your settings

Your style choices (theme, font, colors, size and so on) are saved in Safari’s extension storage on your Mac. They are not sent to the developer.

Fonts from Google Fonts

When you choose a downloadable font (for example Jua, Zen Maru Gothic or ZCOOL KuaiLe), the extension downloads only the characters it needs from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com). To do this, the characters that appear in the subtitles are sent to Google as part of the font request, as a set of individual characters. Like any web request, Google also receives your IP address and basic browser information. The extension’s settings window also loads Google Fonts to show font previews.

Google handles this data under the Google Privacy Policy. See also the Google Fonts privacy FAQ.

If you prefer not to send subtitle characters to Google, choose “System” or “System Rounded” as the font. With a system font, subtitle characters are not sent anywhere.

Children

The app does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
